Educating The Next Generation!

Hi! Steve here!
If you cast your mind back to when you were at school... What subject would you say was really missing from your education?
For me, one of the top areas was Budgeting and Financial Education.
I think back now and it seems crazy that for many years in High School we were taught DS or Domestic Science, which often involved baking cakes.
Now don’t get me wrong, there is some value in being able to bake, throw ingredients together and use a rolling pin but compared to some of the life skills we have to wrestle with, shouldn’t other subjects take precedent?
We come across so many people, some academic, some not, who really appreciate the help with financial literacy and getting themselves in the best place to obtain the right finance.
Getting ‘life ready’ before you need it can make a world of difference to your finances and quality of life.
It's been on our radar for a while now to give back, go into schools and colleges and talk about finances, mortgages and what to do to experience the best start when it comes to the world of finance.
This isn’t about leverage or investing to maximise returns. It's foundations, the basics and what not to do as well as what to do.
An example might be buy now pay later, understanding your credit file or even just being aware of what shows on your bank statements.
It’s surprising how disconnected from all this many people are. Its not taught in schools and parents are often out of touch with what’s required by financial institutions.
And with the greatest respect, most were never in touch.
Seminars will be interactive with students and given by FCA Regulated CeMAP qualified Advisers. Topics will include Credit, Debt, Managing Bills, Budgeting and Saving and many more. We’ve had such a good response from so many schools and colleges, this will likely be an ongoing program we’ll deliver.
I was quite surprised at how receptive the teaching staff have been with this. Yes, it's an important area and pleasing to see how those in Academia embrace this.
Students should come away feeling more ‘life ready’, with greater confidence and understanding of these key skills and who knows, it might even open their mind up to a career in Financial Services!
It's an honour to be a part of this and the fulfilment it will give, especially to our team delivering the message.
So, if you have any contacts with a school or a college and feel that our workshops would be useful, feel free to drop them our marketing email ([email protected]) and we can get booked in!
On the property market front, I’ve just come off the phone with an agent in Wigan, who I know well. He told me the same message as two other agents told my business partner.
Whatever is being said in the mainstream media, both rentals and sales are shifting quite nicely. At least up to average values anyway. Once again, supply and demand as well as interest rate increases causing landlords to up their rents.
Have a great week and I hope you’re as excited as me, now Spring is certainly here!
