WHAT'S INSIDE
The Rise of AI Slop: How Low-Quality AI-Generated Content Is Wreaking Havoc on Information Discovery
The internet has always been a mixed bag of quality. For every well-researched article or credible source, there are countless pieces of low-value content, misinformation or spam.
Recently, a new type of content—”AI Slop”—has emerged, further muddying the waters and making it harder than ever to find accurate information online.
AI slop refers to the flood of low-quality media—ranging from writing to images—generated by artificial intelligence technologies.
This problem has become so widespread that it’s starting to interfere with essential services, from social media updates to vital information during crises.
And the issue is only growing worse, especially in times of urgent need, like during recent natural disasters.
Georgia Tech's George W. Woodruff School of Engineering launches a transformative initiative to drive student success
Building on the institution's technical excellence, the team at Georgia Tech's George W. Woodruff School of Engineering is focused on enhancing its leadership and service dimensions by using the innovative capabilities of Ready Education’s CampusGroups platform - all to create a brighter future for engineering students.
Since assuming the role of Associate Chair for Inclusive Excellence in August 2023, Dr. Jonathan E. Gaines has been dedicated to enhancing the Woodruff School’s inclusive excellence initiatives. Leveraging asset-based methodologies, leadership cultivation, and inclusive excellence best practices, Dr. Gaines implemented the CampusGroups platform and collaborated closely with faculty, staff, students, and alumni to prioritize inclusion and empowerment as student success outcomes.?
Branded as “Woodruff Connect,” the platform will serve as the backbone of the schools’ Inclusive Excellence initiative, propelling student success through four key drivers:
The team developed ten distinct tracks that students are encouraged to follow, providing for a comprehensive co-curricular student journey. To motivate students, new opportunities are unlocked following the completion of each level, including incentives when reaching the top level.
Students can easily see their progress and compare it with peers through a leaderboard. In addition, after completing introductory tracks, students are able to connect with alumni and industry professionals through the platform.?
Learn more about how integrating inclusive excellence principles into every aspect of student life is helping the Georgia Tech team transform the educational experience.
