In Electrical Discharge Machining  time is a competitive weapon. A leading producer of multi-cavity injection molds absolutely had to reduce machining time on electrodes to meet a very tight deadline, but time was only part of the equation. Because no matter what steps they took to optimize their production, compromising accuracy or surface finish just wasn't an option.
