Edition 9 - The Lies We Tell Ourselves
The war we fight in our minds is REAL.
This is a worn-out tactic of the enemy to take back ground and leave us weakened enough to give into the lies and submit. It is neither creative, nor surprising. His tactics are predictable.
So why is it so easy to fall victim to these overfamiliar plays in Satan's playbook?
It is because you are on a path of growth. You see...he has a tendency to attack the one that is advancing themselves more than the average "Joe or Jane". You are growing further away from the societal/worldly devices of the enemy and smartening up. The enemy is losing control and is not happy about it. We must put on the Armor of God to go into these daily battles.
Now, if you met me 4 or 5 years ago you might be in for a shock. You would maybe say, "No way, you are not even close to being the same person." True story. I am proud of that fact and will own that with confidence every chance I get. I made a choice to make some adjustments and become more aware of who I wanted to be. I no longer would accept what this world has to offer me, but rather what I can get better at each and every day. Living intentionally and focusing on the TRUTH of God's word has radically changed the trajectory of my life. I changed my circle of influence and changed my life. Today I live in Godfidence. Praise God for that.
Some of the lies that I fall into believing are listed in the cover photo above of this edition. Lies like unworthiness, not having enough time to make changes, that I must be perfect in everything I do, material things will bring me happiness, I've got this on my own without God's help, or that success determines my worth. The only way to defeat a lie is with the TRUTH.
This is a process and a never-ending mission. Reference back to the mirror principle I spoke of in Edition 2. I must make a cognitive decision on what I will tell the Brett looking back at me in the mirror each morning. Things like...I am forgiven...I am successful...I am worthy...I am kind...I am anointed...I am loved...I am a child of the Most High God. I actually have these, and other scriptures posted on my mirror to hold myself accountable to speaking life into myself each morning, rather than taking it away.
I will leave you this week with some practical rebuttals of TRUTH to destroy the lies you may be telling yourself. Act, put on the full Armor of GOD, and notice the difference in your day.
