EHang (NASDAQ: EH) has completed a series of EH216-S eVTOL aircraft flights, supported by the European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service (EGNOS), Europe’s Satellite-Based Augmentation System (SBAS).
The flights were conducted at EHang’s UAM Center in Europe, inside Lleida–Alguaire International Airport (LEDA) in Spain, in the frame of European Union Agency for the Space Programme’s (EUSPA) SBAS Adoption in Multicopter VTOL Aircraft (SAMVA) project.
"EH216-S’s pilotless flights under SAMVA project, showcased how EGNOS precise and integer navigation guidance, can support and enhance Unmanned Aircraft System Traffic Management tasks and unmanned eVTOL aircraft operations, and thus enable safe and efficient Advanced Air Mobility." - Victoria Jing Xiang , COO of EHang Europe and Latin America.
Joby Aviation has received Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) authorization to use a suite of software tools developed in-house, called ‘ElevateOS’, that are designed to enable high-tempo, on-demand air taxi operations.
The ElevateOS operating system includes pilot tools, operations and schedule management software, a mobile-first rider app, and an intelligent matching engine.
The matching engine is similar to those used by ride-hailing apps today and pairs passengers with available aircraft and landing infrastructure to deliver journeys that are as efficient as possible.
Joby plans to use ElevateOS to support its own air taxi operations, as well as making it available to selected partners who purchase the aircraft, as part of a wider services package.
"We’ve built ElevateOS from the ground up to enable high-tempo, on-demand flights that will deliver true time savings and seamless mobility to customers." - Eric Allison , Chief Product Officer at Joby and former Head of Uber Elevate.
Archer Aviation has revealed plans for an air mobility network that will connect five strategic locations across the San Francisco Bay Area –? South San Francisco, Napa, San Jose, Oakland, and Livermore.?
Archer’s network is expected to provide unprecedented connectivity to communities around the region, allowing people to replace one-to-two-hour drives to cities around the bay with flights that take 10-20 minutes.
"We’re thrilled to collaborate with Kilroy on developing infrastructure to support Archer’s air mobility service and laying the foundation for a robust network of landing sites throughout the Bay Area." - Bryan Bernhard , Archer’s Chief Growth & Infrastructure Officer.
