Edition 58 - "The Waiting Is the Hardest Part"

Edition 58 - "The Waiting Is the Hardest Part"

I enjoy Tom Petty's music, especially when he was with the Heartbreakers. Sadly, he is no longer with us. However, his music still is. And one of my favorite songs of his is "The Waiting Is the Hardest Part". I jokingly call Tom a great philosopher due to song titles and lines like this.

There is a lot of truth in that though as well. Waiting can be difficult. It can cause us to be stressed and even desperate if we allow it to. Waiting can open a door to disappointment and disbelief in ourselves and our situation.

I fully believe that waiting is an indication of a season we are in. And in that season is purpose. Every season has a purpose, every assignment meaningful and productive. And sometimes we are just supposed to rest. For me, that rest comes in the assurance of who my savior is, Jesus Christ, and how He provides for me and my family. He meets all of our needs and is never late.

While acknowledging the waiting can be difficult, it doesn't have to be very stressful or unproductive. There are quite a few things we can do as we wait to stay positive and productive. Waiting is a great test of patience, and patience is a sign of maturity.

What are your thoughts on challenges of waiting? How do you stay positive and productive?

I also like to listen to another of Tom Petty's hits - Running Down a Dream

[Verse 1]

It was a beautiful day, the sun beat down

I had the radio on, I was drivin'

Trees went by, me and Del were singin' little Runaway

I was flyin'

[Chorus]

Yeah, runnin' down a dream that never would come to me

Workin' on a mystery, goin' wherever it leads

Runnin' down a dream

[Verse 2]

I felt so good, like anything was possible

Hit cruise control and rubbed my eyes

The last three days the rain was unstoppable

It was always cold, no sunshine

[Chorus]

Yeah, runnin' down a dream that never would come to me

Workin' on a mystery, goin' wherever it leads

Runnin' down a dream

[Bridge]

I rolled on, the sky grew dark

I put the pedal down to make some time

There's something good waitin' down this road

I'm pickin' up whatever's mine

Maybe your boss will finally go down this time since he bought Christy off the time he was pursuing him. He's a dirtball and so are you, you funny looking cone head MFer. Remember everything goes around. You guys fucked me for no reason, and you still found time to incinerate that I actually said that I would shoot someone if they didn't vacate a property. I can only hope all of you guys Rot in Hell
