NPCI Cuts Off Hundreds Of Banks Over IT Vendor Ransomware Attack
The NPCI announced that core banking vendor C-Edge was "possibly" hit by a ransomware attack. To prevent a wider impact, NPCI temporarily isolated C-Edge from accessing its retail payment systems, affecting customers of banks serviced by C-Edge. Connectivity was restored the next day after an independent forensic audit confirmed the issue was confined to C-Edge’s data center and did not affect any bank infrastructure.
