Hi Lifelong Learners,
?

Appealing to the Universal Laws is your right and your natural state. It will improve your inner and outer wealth and balance your life in sync with the Earth.
This week, harnessing the power of sound is a truly vital part of getting back to the Earth and finding balance, of realising that your unique thread is badly needed in the global community.
Unlocking Mindful Study Wellness through the Power of Sound
As professionals engage in continuous learning and skill acquisition for career advancement, exploring holistic approaches that enhance your study wellness and well-being is essential. In this 30th edition of our Study/Learning Well-being/Wellness Newsletter on LinkedIn, we’ll examine the transformative power of sound as a mindful and meditative tool to support your learning journey.
Sound has been recognised throughout history for its profound impact on the mind, body, and spirit. I’ve mentioned it before in?Edition 19 ?and in all the mindful practices you have adopted to reconnect with your True Nature. These involve listening to your environment while allowing your breath to deepen. If you do this sincerely, it will close down your busy mind so that you can use it creatively.? ?
“Remember that if you are consciously witnessing how your mind is working, you have detached from it.”
From ancient chants to modern sound healing practices, the vibrations and frequencies of sound have the potential to create a harmonious environment conducive to focused and effective study sessions.
Incorporating sound into your study routine can significantly enhance mindfulness and concentration. Whether it’s the gentle tones of Tibetan singing bowls, the rhythmic beats of a drum, or the soothing melodies of nature sounds, each auditory experience can anchor your attention, guiding you into deep focus and awareness.
?
The Sounds of Nature?
So, this week, have a holiday from your earphones, playing muzak, and listen to some natural sounds. There are many recordings to reference here, so check the internet and choose something. I like listening to water gently running and rain on the window when studying. The sound of the wind or breeze is also so grounding. Here’s one I often use: https://music.apple.com/jp/artist/sleep-sounds-of-nature/460500311?l=en-US
Moreover, sound can catalyse relaxation and stress reduction, crucial elements for maintaining study wellness. As I reminded you above, by integrating mindful listening practices into your study breaks or pre-study rituals, you can create a calming oasis amidst the demands of professional development and career growth.
Sound-Based Mindfulness Techniques
?
Remember that sound is not just auditory stimulation but a gateway to deeper introspection, focus, and inner balance.
Let the power of sound guide you towards a more mindful and fulfilling learning experience.
I wish you uncountable moments of mindful awareness and growth with this quotation:
“If you think POSITIVELY, Sound becomes MUSIC, Movement becomes DANCE, Smile becomes LAUGHTER, Mind becomes MEDITATION.”

Unlocking Abundance and Well-Being Through the Power of Sound
In the quest for inner wealth, good health, good fortune, and happiness, the significance of sound cannot be overstated. Sound, in its various forms, such as:
holds the key to manifesting abundance and prosperity in our lives. Prosperity is not necessarily about money but more about success and true happiness; as you know, these are all internal.
The Kuber Mantra,?revered across Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism, is a potent tool for attracting wealth and removing financial/success obstacles.
Becoming this ancient mantra with your words and their emotions with unwavering confidence and devotion aligns our vibrations with the frequency of abundance, ushering in prosperity and stability.
Here is how it looks in Hindi and in English.
“Hindi: ? ?????? ??????? ????????? ??????????????? ??????????????? ??????? ??????? ????”
“Om Yakshaya Kuberaya Vaisravanaya Dhanadhanyadi Padayeh Himalaye Kuberaya Namah.”
The rhythmic chanting of this mantra resonates with the vibrational frequency of abundance, inviting all kinds of wealth and prosperity into our lives.
Additionally, the harmonious sounds of bells in Buddhist rituals and ceremonies create an atmosphere of positive energy, attracting financial well-being.
As you already know, affirmations are sounds we can utter authentically to transmit high-level frequencies into the Universe. Here’s a powerful one:
“I am an unstoppable force of Nature.”
Beyond mantras and bells
Tibetan singing bowls are revered for their therapeutic properties in sound healing practices. These ancient instruments, crafted from a blend of metals, produce soothing tones that resonate with our body’s energy centres, promoting relaxation, balance, and overall well-being.
Practitioners create a gentle and immersive sound bath during a sound healing session with Tibetan singing bowls. The vibrations penetrate our cells and tissues deeply, releasing tension, reducing stress, and inducing deep relaxation. This process allows our bodies to realign their natural energy flow, fostering holistic healing.
In mindful/meditation practices, Tibetan singing bowls enhance focus, clarity, and mindfulness. The rhythmic sounds create a meditative atmosphere, aiding inner peace and tranquillity. Whether used individually or in group sound healing ceremonies, Tibetan singing bowls continue to be valued for their ability to promote emotional and physical well-being through the power of sound vibrations.
To go deeper into the transformative power of sound healing and my experiences as a Music Therapist, I invite you to read some of my articles titled: “Balancing Body, Mind & Spirit to Attract Inner Wealth: the Joy of Sound.”

What is listening?
It’s likely not what you think it is. It’s impossible to understand the auditory sense without knowing a little about the mechanism. Babies are excellent at this if their development is normal. Before the brain develops fully, they listen as animals do with all their energy and focus.?
Even in the embryo, the basic structure is fully developed—the inner ear, brainstem pathway, and cortex. Rapid growth occurs in the second trimester, making the cochlea adult-like.
This highlights the innate importance of listening from the very beginning of life. In their purest form of learning, babies listen with their whole bodies, effortlessly absorbing sounds and language patterns. The Art of Listening: taken a back seat
In today’s fast-paced world dominated by visual stimuli and earphones, the art of listening has taken a back seat, yet its significance remains profound and timeless.
Audition, our sense of hearing, is vital for communication and is crucial in shaping our understanding of the world.

However, this sense is weakening due to constant exposure to earphones, overwhelming visual inputs and white noise.
Becoming the sound
Autistic and visually impaired children often have a unique relationship with sounds because their communication skills differ radically from those of non-autistic individuals.?
They may become deeply attuned to certain sounds, embodying them in a way that reflects their distinct perception of the world. They move as if they were the sound, becoming the sound. But this behaviour is often misunderstood and forcibly curbed. Still, if humans don’t focus on social communication, so much energy is left to devote to other sensory interactions with the Earth.
As a music therapist and English communication teacher, I have always valued listening/hearing above seeing. Learning a foreign language efficiently means embodying the sounds you hear as often as possible—24 hours a day is recommended. This will rewire the brain and form new neural pathways and habits.
I recommend that students start listening to English speech as soon as possible, even when they don’t understand! Like babies, language learners can absorb the sounds and leave meaning until later. Radio and audio files are a great aid in the early stages.
Immersion into the sound patterns of any language accelerates learning and facilitates accurate pronunciation. It also stimulates the memory to recognise and categorise previously heard sounds.
I have learned Japanese this way to communicate well, even without studying. As a baby does, intensive listening will lay a strong foundation through the language’s sound system—just listening, nothing else.
In the same way, when we listen to music, we don’t have to study each word of lyrics or the structure/instrumentation of the sounds. We absorb the raw vibrations that are or are not to our liking and soon become comfortable with that piece, creating a feeling of hearing it often.
Listening to a language will motivate you to study and develop a craving to hear sounds that have found you. Sound is a cultural space and portable, too.
Pre-Modern Culture and Technology
Before the era of television, rapid population growth, and the shift away from traditional religions into secularity, listening held greater prominence than seeing.
Listening was a gateway to understanding, connection, and mindfulness, as ordinary people were content to listen to stories and songs in their native language without access to books.?
In today’s context, as you know, listening remains crucial for?mindfulness and meditation practices , allowing individuals to tune into the present moment and cultivate inner peace.
Songs and Stories
Moreover, listening goes beyond individual experiences. Recently, I’ve shared my experiences of First Nations here with you, so it will probably come as no surprise to you that indigenous peoples, especially in Australia, understand the profound impact of the sound of songs and stories because they create lines that connect their sacred sites.
These songlines, created by the first ancestors, are a timeless link between generations, ensuring that cultural heritage is never forgotten.
Walking along these songlines evokes a sense of connection, reverence, and wonder, showcasing the deep-rooted significance of listening in preserving cultural identity and understanding the interconnectedness of all things.
Aboriginals will walk along the song lines to collect songs to give as gifts to their children or an intended partner.
Such mysterious lines appear all over the Earth’s Crust without scientific explanation. It is considered that the energy of sound may have created them, a powerful energy known to cause disasters such as earthquakes.
The Physical Power of Sound
The physical power of sound is a fascinating aspect that has been documented both scientifically and historically.
One of the most famous historical examples is the biblical account of the Wall of Jericho falling due to the power of sound, where the Israelites’ trumpet blasts caused the walls to crumble. This highlights the immense force that sound waves can exert on physical structures.
However, it’s essential to note that sound’s power isn’t limited to ancient tales; in modern times, loud sounds can harm the human body. For instance, exposure to loud noises can damage the cells and membranes of the ear, leading to hearing loss. A deafening blast lasting more than 1 second can immediately result in permanent hearing impairment.
Additionally, sound has been harnessed for non-lethal weaponry, such as the Long Range Acoustic Device (LRAD), which emits high-decibel sounds to deter or disperse crowds. This technology underscores sound’s potent yet limited capability as a weapon, showcasing its ability to influence human behaviour without causing physical harm in most cases.
The historical and scientific exploration of sound’s power also finds resonance in mythology. In Norse mythology, figures like Thor, the god of Thunder, symbolise the awe-inspiring force and raw energy that sound represents across cultures and time periods. This god’s hammering on the Earth is enshrined in many cultures, e.g., the day named Thursday.
The Art of Listening is a timeless practice that transcends boundaries, cultures, and generations.
It invites us to pause, tune in, and embrace the richness of sound and story surrounding us, reminding us of the eternal imprint our words and sounds leave on the Universe.
