1. Money doesn’t grow on trees?
?? Umm – No! Of course not. So how many of you have said... Money doesn’t grow on trees? Yup... me too!
What did you mean? What were you trying to say? (And in the current climate, have you found yourself saying it more often?)
How does this adage help us to think about what can make a difference?
? Communication makes a difference.
? Knowing your audience makes a difference.
2. Communication makes a difference
So, what did you mean? What were you trying to convey? Was it:
?? Do you really need it?
?? Sorry we don’t have the money.
?? Last week you wanted something else, why is this now a priority?
Or maybe all of those?

They aren’t quite saying the same thing though, are they?
3. Knowing your audience makes a difference.
?? Clarity of communication and understanding is important. Don’t assume people have got what you’ve said!
?? Everyone is entitled to their point of view.
?? And not everyone will see things the same way?
?? It probably depends on where you’re coming from doesn’t it? Which angle you’re looking at it from?
How did “Money doesn’t grow on trees” come into your vocab? How was it embedded into your psyche?
