In this edition we’re offering some opinion:

Don’t worry about doing things right! (e.g. In Data Analysis / Change initiatives)

1. Is it wrong to want to do things right?

?? Umm – No! Of course not.

So, what do we mean by “Don’t worry about doing things right!”

An example. Say you’re asked to find something out, analyse it, to inform a view. So, an action can be done.

Or you’re asked to communicate something, e.g. a corporate policy message, so people will buy into it.

Is just doing these tasks right generally what makes the difference / deliver a successful outcome?

?? Umm – No! Not in our opinion or experience!

If you’re interested in understanding why we’ve offered this opinion, please click here, and let us explain further. If you just want the headline messages, read on.

2. Good enough is good enough.

?? So, in any change / project delivery...

?

You know it’s true!

?? We do not need to always have 100% knowledge, accuracy, quality etc. to decide. We need enough to be able to use our judgement.

If you’re interested in understanding why we’ve offered this opinion, please click here, and let us explain further. Or just read on for the next headline.

3. Focus more on doing the right things.

??? If people believe it’s the right thing, they are far more likely to get behind it.

?? Conversely if people don’t believe it’s the right thing, no amount of good message communication practice is likely to get the outcome desired.

? Start with Why! Understand what that means to the people being engaged.

?

?? ?? ? Slow down, take a breath and focus on doing the right things first... then you can worry about doing them right:

?

Have we tingled your Spidey Senses?

??? Let us know, it’s one of our evidence measures!
