In this edition we’re offering some (perhaps contentious) opinion on:

3 things benefits realisation and becoming data driven, have in common?

1. Everyone says the same thing about both?

How many times have you heard the phrase – “we must focus on benefits realisation”?

Let’s guess ??

I know we shouldn’t, we should seek the data, but hey humour me, this is opinion not fact, isn’t it!

More than once or twice, for sure! ??

And in more recent times, how many times have you heard the phrase – “we need to be more data driven in making decisions”?

Umm, probably quite a lot ??.

So that’s the first thing in common.

Which is good, right?

Hmm ??

2. Most then do the same thing with both?

?? So, in any change / project delivery...

?

?

You know it’s true!

And even if you’re one of the few who do continue to drive towards proficiency of your change, how many of you carry on and actually measure the benefits. ??

?? And in trying to become data driven...

Many seem to end up with:

Perhaps because the underlying data isn’t good enough?

?? or simply perhaps they forget:

The second thing in common is that people seem to embrace the phrase “common sense is sadly, not all that common”.

Oh dear ??

3. Why does this happen with both?

Well, maybe because:

?? Or maybe it’s because we really need to

?

?? ?? ? Slow down, take a breath and understand what:

?

?

Really means??

And

What you could actually achieve, if you just thought about stuff for a minute ??

?

Have we tingled your Spidey Senses?
