Edition 10

Welcome to Edition 10 of Leadership Insights!

A warm welcome to our last newsletter of 2024.

As we wrap up another year, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the growth, challenges, and wins we’ve experienced together.

This year has been one of transformation—both for Mantle and for the leaders we’ve had the privilege of working with.

We’ve seen firsthand how organisations can shift, adapt, and thrive with the right support, tools, and mindset.

In this final newsletter of 2024, we’re diving into the impact of modern work environments on stress and brain health, exploring how leadership can unintentionally create more problems, showcasing our recent work with SPCA New Zealand, and offering an opportunity to make the most of your break with our Agile Leadership Guide.

As the demands of the modern workplace continue to evolve, so does the impact on our brain health.

With the rise of hybrid work models, the rapid pace of digital transformation, and constant connectivity, it’s no surprise that stress levels are on the rise.

In our latest blog, we explore the neuroscience behind stress in modern work environments and offer strategies to help mitigate its effects.

We cover:

? The neuroscience behind stress in the workplace

? How modern work environments are impacting brain biology

? The rise in stress levels due to digital overload and hybrid work models

? Practical strategies for leaders to manage stress and enhance productivity

? How organisations can create a culture of well-being and mental resilience

Leadership is about more than just having the answers—it’s about asking the right questions and creating an environment where your team can thrive.

However, some well-meaning leaders may unintentionally create more problems by micromanaging or rushing in to “rescue” their team.

This short-term approach can lead to learned helplessness and stifle innovation.

Take time to reflect on these questions:

  • Are we creating the right environment for our team to own their decisions and thrive?
  • Do we encourage collaboration or inadvertently foster dependency?
  • Are we focused on long-term solutions, or just short-term fixes that fail to address root causes?
  • Are we using work to help foster learning and capability growth?

“Partnering with Mantle transformed our approach to leadership development. Our leaders are now better equipped to guide their teams with confidence and adaptability.” – Kirsty Grant, SPCA

SPCA New Zealand faced leadership challenges as they implemented their ‘One SPCA’ strategy, including inconsistent leadership skills and a lack of collaboration.

To address this, Mantle designed a bespoke leadership programme aimed at building confident, capable leaders across the organisation and we are proud to share some key outcomes:

? Increased leadership confidence and collaboration

? Enhanced conflict management and communication skills

? Greater consistency across SPCA centres nationwide

The programme not only developed stronger leaders but also fostered a culture of growth and internal promotion. SPCA now has leaders equipped to drive the organisation’s mission forward with confidence.
