Remote Microsampling Expands Boston University’s Pregnancy Study Online (PRESTO)

Study participants help researchers examine the impact of environmental chemicals on reproductive health for Boston University's Environmental Pregnancy Study Online (E-PRESTO) by using Mitra? microsampling devices from Trajan Scientific and Medical to collect blood samples remotely. This sub-study offers a mail-based E-PRESTO option, shipping sampling kits to participants’ homes to encourage participation of couples planning a pregnancy across a wider geographical area. Also included in the mail kits are Mitra devices for remote self-collection of blood samples using a quick and easy finger-prick method. The kits, which also include cups for remote urine sampling, are mailed back to Boston University for storage and the microsamples are analyzed at various external laboratories for chemicals, hormones, and nutrients over the next two years.

Microsampling Featured at SLAS2023 Conference & Exhibition

Trajan Scientific and Medical exhibited its sampling automation solutions at the SLAS International Conference and Exhibition in San Diego, California. The event took place at the San Diego Convention Center from February 25 to March 1, 2023, and Trajan was there to show how our automation and analytical consumables and components fit into the entire sampling workflow. Trajan’s automation team demonstrated automated sample prep and inject for LC/MS. This LEAP Workflow Solution is an example of our ability to match each customer’s needs with laboratory automation for their specific workflow. To demonstrate Trajan’s sample collection solutions, the company’s Neoteryx line of microsampling products were also on display, including the Mitra??and hemaPEN??microsampling devices for remote blood collection.
