Edit or Customise Embedded reports in D365FO
Analytical workspaces come integrated with the application suite, providing users with insights derived from standard business operations through reporting features.
These reports, which are created by business professionals, are generic and include metrics of interest to a broad audience across various industries. However, the standard reports may sometimes contain data that isn't applicable to all customers. Additionally, customers may need access to specific data points or calculations not included in the standard reports.
We had a requirement where the Purchase user raised a request to edit the changes in 'Purchase and spend analysis ' report. This is accessed from the below path
Procurement and sourcing -> Inquiries and reports -> Purchase performance analysis
The user was unable to see the option of editing and the security diagonostics gave only limited information.
For instance, to access the 'Edit Analytics' button , users with admin role will have the default access. But for the limited access users, the button will not be visible.
What is the solution?
To customize the embedded application solutions, a user must be assigned the System report editor security role.
Users assigned this security role can do customizations by using the buttons on the Options tab on the Action Pane of the application workspaces.
This role can be assigned to the user from Security Configuration.
