The numerous inventions of Thomas Edison
Edison is known for his electric bulb invention; he failed 1000+ times before discovering the right formula for illuminating the correct bulb. The electric bulb's discovery is not the only invention that he gets credited for; he invented 50+ devices before getting his well-deserved fame for the bulb invention.
He was the 7th child in the family, and like other siblings, he also commenced working in his teenage; he sold food and drink at the railway station at the age of 12. 1862 was the turning point when he saved the stations master son and got a chance to learn the telegraph; this was the defining moment in his life and find hand exposure to the electric machines. He explored broadly between 1863-67 across cities to work as a telegraph operator. In 1868 he got his first patent for electric vote recorder. Gold and stock telegraph company appointed him in 1869 and became his first employer. In 1870 he got another patent for the universal stock ticker, a device that printed telegraph messages.
In 1874 he invented the electric pen and the copying machine. In 1876 he opened his first industrial research laboratory in Menlo Park, New Jersey. In 1880 he started Edison illuminating company; in 1882, he put 400 lights in the streets of manhattan.
1891- He made diverse inventions to improve electric railways. He later established Edison General Electric. 1900- He began work on an alkaline storage battery; in 1913, he developed the machine to put sound in the film.
He died in 1931 with 1000+ patents in his name. He supplanted copious times before inventing the electric bulb; this invention gave him his well-deserved prominence.
