Edgewise Environmental is Bringing Passive Acoustic Monitoring (PAM) systems to Newfoundland and Labrador

Edgewise Environmental has signed a service agreement with MSeis to bring Passive Acoustic Monitoring (PAM) systems to Newfoundland and Labrador.

With over 20 years experience in offshore surveying, MSeis is a UK based company? specializing in environmental surveys, marine animal mitigation technology and training. Their Night Hawk III PAM system is high performance, flexible and modular, and interfaces with industry standard PAMGuard software.

The Night Hawk III system is effective and versatile, allowing for configuration for lightweight requirements up to long length towed configurations for everything from shallow water to deep sea surveys. Its broadband frequency response enables detection of ultrasonic vocalizations up to 180KHz. By working with MSeis to bring this technology into the province we are increasing our capacity for marine animal monitoring and further improving our training programs and service offerings.

The Journey

Thanks to the Innovate UK Edge team who arranged and funded the Global Business Innovation Program (GBIP), we were able to connect with MSeis at the H2O Conference in Halifax and again in St. John's. After meeting with Mark Higginbottom, Managing Director and Matthew Brewer, Operations Manager, we were excited to form a service agreement and work together to bring in-house PAM system capabilities to Newfoundland and Labrador.
