Ed3 Weekly Issue #130: Crypto in the Spotlight
Hello Ed3 Community,
Nearly every week—almost daily—I read about new steps governments are taking toward adopting crypto.
There are still laws to be written and regulations to be established, but it seems like we’re steadily moving toward a future that’s increasingly crypto-native.
So what does this mean? First off we need to wait and see what these policies will be.
With more relaxed regulations, educational institutions can access more funding and resources, leading to expanded blockchain curriculums and innovative partnerships. This could help promote career readiness in the crypto and blockchain sectors by enabling deep experiences.
However, with heavy regulations, educational institutions may face limitations on curriculum development related to crypto, reducing students' exposure to blockchain technologies and innovation in the sector.
I hope that it is more toward the former rather than the latter.
I worry about a reduction in access to blockchain technologies, leaving students less prepared for careers in crypto-related fields and potentially at a disadvantage in the tech job market.
Each week the resources I select help educators envision this crypto-enabled future so they can start educating themselves. A crypto education platform could offer educators an accessible tool for teaching blockchain fundamentals. With new platforms, teachers could design curriculums that prepare students for the evolving digital economy. Insights into how governments are shaping Web3 can inform educators about the latest market trends and challenges.

?? Weekly Deep Dive
This week’s deep dive explores the pro-blockchain and start-up policy initiatives of Japan’s Prime Minister Ishiba. These initiatives are important for American educators to be aware of, primarily because they can help us understand how to prepare students to compete in a global economy that increasingly relies on these technologies.
Japan’s emphasis on technological innovation and digital transformation can also serve as inspiration for American schools looking to implement these technologies. This has the potential to lead to new educational models, such as digital credentialing or decentralized learning environments.
