Ed Lamont presents A GILDED AGE CHRISTMAS to the Historical Society of Lake Worth (HSLW) at 7:00 pm on December 15, 2022. The event is an exclusive benefit for members of HSLW and includes refreshments at 6:30 pm.
Much of how we celebrate Christmas today can be traced to America’s Gilded Age. Santa Claus, Christmas trees, mountains of presents, beloved Christmas carols, and even Christmas cards are traditions from the nineteenth century. Learn how Christmas moved from rowdy street antics to indoor family celebrations. Discover how deeply rooted Dutch traditions of the Hudson River Valley morphed into the child centered Christmas we celebrate today.

Since 1991 Ed has served as a docent at?the Henry Morrison Flagler Museum in Palm Beach. He's led over 2,500 tours into America’s Gilded Age at the Flagler Museum where he was recognized as 2001, 2006, and 2007 Interpretive Docent of the Year. Ed gives art gallery talks at the Esther O'Keeffe Gallery Building and facilitates TALK OF KINGS book discussions at the King Library on the Society of the Fours Arts campus in Palm Beach.
