Ed Lamont presents ADDISON MIZNER: EXOTIC SOCIETY ARCHITECT at Raptis Rare Books in Palm Beach

Raptis Rare Books is pleased to welcome acclaimed speaker and historian Ed Lamont as he discusses the intriguing history of Addison Mizner: Exotic Society Architect on Thursday April 5th at 6:00 PM,

When Addison Mizner arrived in Florida in 1918, he thought he was going to die. Instead, he brought forth the distinctive Mizner style of architecture, interior, and landscape design to Palm Beach. From the mind of Mizner sprung private clubs, oceanfront & lakeside mansions, and world famous Worth Avenue shopping vias. He transformed Palm Beach from “Winter Newport” into “America’s Riviera.”

When Mizner took his talents to Boca Raton to create “Venice in America”, he morphed from society architect to developer and city planner. For his efforts, Mizner would be acclaimed a design genius. Ultimately, he’d be ruined.

Since 1991, Ed Lamont has served as a docent at the Henry Morrison Flagler Museum in Palm Beach. He leads historical tours at the Breakers Hotel and gives gallery talks at the Society of the Four Arts. Ed is a frequent speaker at Daughters & Sons of the American Revolution chapters and south Florida Rotary clubs. He's presented historical topics at Palm Beach Atlantic University, Broward College - North Campus, and the Lake Worth Pioneer Association.

There's no charge for the event. Please plan to arrive early to Raptis Rare Books - 226 Worth Avenue, Palm Beach, FL - to celebrate the centennial anniversary of acclaimed architect Addison Mizner's arrival to Palm Beach.
