Can you please set up the scene and tell us what you see from your desk?
We work in an open space and our offices are located on the 7th floor of a building in the city centre of Brussels.
From my desk, I can see and talk easily to my colleagues. The immediate contact is precious to me from a human point of view. It also makes communication with the Team much easier.
We have a fantastic view over the city. It is a good place to see gorgeous sunsets after a busy working day!
What is the main purpose of your role?
All matters related to HR are part of my job and I do enjoy dealing with human relation, much more than the pure administrative aspect of the role.
Trying to find a good balance between work, fun, expertise, learning, constraint and well-being at work is challenging but it is also the substance that makes me always evolve and love it.
The second part of my role is follow-up with finance. It is also a way to extend contacts with our members, partners to projects, suppliers, and the Ecsite Team as well.
Working on figures helps to prepare analysis and strategy. It is necessary to improve the organization and encourage to find solution for increasing efficiency and providing good services.
What are you working on right now?
With the opening of our Annual Conference registration, we are facing busy times following-up with payments and participants' requests.
On another hand, we temporarily reinforce our Team to face the Annual Conference extra workload.

But being part of a united and multifunctional team helps a lot these days.
What are the most enjoyable and challenging parts of your role so far?
On both sides of my role (HR and Finance), human contacts are the most enjoyable part. Trying to find the best way to make people happy (Team, Members, project partners, suppliers….) is challenging. And when you succeed in finding a good solution, suddenly your day becomes sunny even in Brussels!
How did you end up in this position?
I wanted to combine Science and Culture. I worked in different environments (Human Rights, Nutrition, Health, Science communication), and I always heard good things about Ecsite’s activities and projects. Brussels is also a small bubble. When I learned Ecsite was recruiting to reinforce the Admin Team, I expressed my deep interest to join it!
In the future, you would like to…
have more time to travel to Japan and India, meaning being able to spend several weeks there to visit the country.
Just taking the necessary time to visit different places, discovering again as always!

PS: What is the most beautiful thing you have seen this week?
I spent some days in Nice, my native city.
Walking by the seaside after windy days makes me happy: at this time of the year, the light is pure, and the landscapes are bright.
It is why so many painters were inspired by the place and its surroundings.?
