The Cortex Hub welcomed a new partner in 2022, a global semiconductor and software design company - Arm Limited. As part of the partnership, a physical lab has been installed inside the Cortex Hub to allow the local project team to empower the local technology stakeholders throughout South Africa and the continent.
The Embedded Learning Challenge: The Arm Embedded Learning Challenge saw a remarkable increase in the number of registered learners across the continent in August. A total of 355 learners have currently been onboarded as part of Cohort I & II. Social media engagement has also grown between our learners and mentors, and we are thrilled to welcome our first set of Female Mentors: Lisa M. (South Africa), Karen Sakyibea Osei Mensah Mensah (Ghana), Nadège Dandou (C?te d'Ivoire) and Samira Ali (France). A host of physical and virtual meet-ups have taken place over the course of the month across the African continent.

In the month of August 2022, Arm (E3)NGAGE partners Hacklab Foundation and The MakersPlace facilitated two ELC in-person meetups in Accra, Ghana. Robert John was the Keynote speaker for the session. The learners had the opportunity to learn, meet their mentors, and network with each other, industry professionals, and stakeholders.

On Tuesday, Aug 30, 2022, our ELC mentors Mawuko Tettey , Moses Arhinful Acquah , Karen Sakyibea Osei Mensah and Kwadwo Dompreh led a Campus Meetup co-hosted with the University of Ghana .
Kwasi Addo Nyarko and Timtoni Abdul-Kadir Napari Saeed students of the University of Ghana were awarded Arduino Nano RP2040 Connect boards as part of their successful completion of the first phase of the Challenge.

Celebrating Women's Month 2022
The Cortex Hub hosted the Women’s Month Campaign throughout the month of August with a series of partner events taking place.
Campaign Kick-off: 12 August onboarding Grade 8 learners to the School Program.
Cortex Hub School Program in the month of August features Mzokhanyo High School, where a piano was built using Arduino UNO.
