UKG Response to the Scottish Government’s Resource Spending Review
Responding to the Scottish Government’s?Resource Spending Review, a UK Government spokesperson said:?
“All of Scotland is benefitting from unprecedented UK Government support. We are providing the Scottish Government with a record £41 billion per year for the next three years – the highest settlement since devolution, funding our NHS, our schools and other vital services.
“And after supporting 1 in 3 jobs in Scotland during the pandemic, we are providing people with a £37 billion UK-wide package to help with fuel bills and support the most vulnerable including pensioners and disabled people.
“We are growing the economy across Scotland through our £2 billion in regional growth deals and levelling up initiatives to create a high-skilled, high-wage economy.?
“The Scottish Government’s official figures show that being part of the UK is worth more than £2,200 every year for each person in Scotland. An agreement to review the fiscal framework is underway and we will continue to work with the Scottish Government for the benefit of people right across Scotland in these challenging times.”
Audit Regime Overhaul
The UK Government will revamp the UK’s corporate reporting and?audit regime?through a new regulator, greater accountability for big business and by addressing the dominance of the Big Four audit firms, the Business Secretary confirmed.

Levelling Up with High-Speed Broadband

More than 5,000 public buildings - including schools, hospitals and libraries - have been connected to high-speed broadband thanks to a UK Government scheme to level up public services.
Shetland?is one of many regions to have been transformed by Project Gigabit.
Minister Iain Stewart said:?
“Broadband upgrades to these public service buildings in Scotland’s most isolated areas will help deliver for the people they serve and future-proof rural communities. This is on top of the 740,000 Scottish homes and businesses already benefiting from our superfast broadband roll-out.”
