The economy for technical people is astounding. Requiring Headhunters to modify our techniques.

As a top producing Headhunter with 30 years in the life science capital lab equipment business, I am absolutely amazed by the condition of the economy.

In every region of the country I have multiple companies looking to hire good Sales Reps, Applications people, Field Service Engineers, and Product Managers. Technologies most in demand are Cellular Biology, Assay Development, lab automation and Robotics.

I used to recruit people for individual jobs, but I have found that it works even better today to recruit strong performers, and then market them to multiple companies. As an example, a couple months ago I recruited a strong, underpaid young female PhD Applications person who was making just 80K. I marketed her to several companies, got her interviews with 3 companies, and all 3 companies made her an offer. Then I had the pleasure of watching all three companies fight over her. Final offer, which she accepted--a 120K base--a pay raise of 50%!

The key to this tactic is as follows: a candidate must have a good and verifiable track record of success, good references from previous bosses, cannot be a job hopper, and must have strong technical skills. Then once I have this candidate I need to market him/her directly to the hiring manager or executive. (The hiring managers and executives are the people feeling the pain of being understaffed. HR generally are feeling no pain)

If this description fits you to a Tee, then give me a call at 413-788-2291 or email me at [email protected] and I will do everything possible to get multiple companies begging for your services. It's a great feeling!!!
