Economic success, down to a tee (or three)

#Talent, #Technology and #Tolerance have been identified as the three key ingredients for success in our times—vide ‘The Rise of the Creative Class’ by Richard Florida. Increasingly countries, and even more so cities, have to compete to attract creative talent. Money can be thrown at technology infrastructure and trade promotion but tolerance can only be secured through #cultural and #educational intervention at the very base of the host #society. Are the views of others aired openly? Are these views heeded? Are those who espouse different values harassed and vilified? Are local problems, real and perceived, blamed on ‘the other’? One would do well to remember that if new technologies and attractive fiscal & legal frameworks are the bricks of success then tolerance is the cement that binds and crowns it all.
