? Consumer Trend: Zara and Shein Break into Beauty

With collections updated in record time and affordable prices, Zara has long been the ultimate symbol of fashion at low prices. Before being overtaken by Primark, and then by the Chinese ultra-fast fashion platform: Shein. With pervasive advertising on TikTok and items for as low as 1€, the eCommerce platform has reached overwhelming popularity among Generation Z.

These two competing players have both entered the beauty sector:

?? Shein has launched an entire range of makeup products and accessories

?? Zara has turned to perfume: low-priced dupes of major brands

?????Beauty, a new Growth Opportunity for Shein

After conquering the world of ultra-fast fashion, Shein seems to be setting up shop in the beauty sector for the long haul.

The beauty segment of Shein is actually the fastest-growing: in the Netherlands,?the beauty category represents 7% of Shein’s market share in 2023, a figure that has increased by 4 points compared to the previous year. In the French market, 3.7% of Shein’s market share is generated by beauty.
