What is a Visa Virtual Card?

An Ecobank Visa Virtual Card is a payment card you can easily create on your phone using the Ecobank mobile app. You can create one on the go and load it with cash. It is a secure way to use funds electronically, so you don’t have to carry your physical ATM cards with you everywhere.

You can use the pre-loaded funds safely for shopping (especially online) or share the Virtual Card as a gift with someone else.

Who can have a Visa Virtual Card?

Anyone with the Ecobank mobile app on their phone can easily create a Visa Virtual Card. The Visa Virtual Card is not directly linked to your bank account, making it extra secure.

Type of Visa Virtual Cards

Shopping Card – Card Valid for 12 months and can be used for online purchases locally and abroad.

Gift Card – This allows customers generate a virtual card and send to third parties (family, friends etc.) as a gift. Valid for 3 months.

How to access the Ecobank Virtual Prepaid Card

1. Log on to the Ecobank Mobile App and click on the Cards Tab at the bottom of the screen: Ecobank Mobile App on the App?Store (apple.com) / Ecobank Mobile App - Apps on Google Play
2. Select Virtual Cards and the Select Create Virtual card
3. Specify the amount you want loaded on the card
4. Choose your card Type (Gift Card or Shopping card)
5. Then review your request and confirm by Selecting create virtual cards tab at the bottom of the screen.
6. Click on view virtual card and your card will be displayed.?

What are the advantages of a Visa Virtual Card?

• It is highly secure because it is not linked directly to your bank account, and you can load it with exact amount you want to spend. That’s peace of mind for you.
• If you forget your physical ATM cards, you can still shop or send a gift card to anyone at any time.
• You are in total control with the Ecobank mobile app. You select which account to take the funds from when creating the card. You also have the choice to block, unblock, delete transactions, and even reverse them. You’ll have the opportunity to review your transaction before completing it, just as you would if using an actual card.
• All your transactions are notified by SMS alert and/or email, so you can keep a record.
• As soon as the card is created, it is ready to use.
• You have a choice of what you want to use the virtual card for – shopping or sending it as a gift to someone.
• Shopping cards are valid for one year from creation, and gift cards are valid for three months.
• You can reload a shopping card via your Ecobank mobile app at any time. Gift cards are exempt from this facility.
• Pre-loading your virtual card will help you budget and manage your spending.
