Eco-conscious coaching practice
What do you do as a coach, mentor, or supervisor to ensure that you are at your best during your sessions? In what physical space do you receive your clients? What background can they see? What background noise can they hear? How do you really feel in that space? These are some of the questions I started asking myself as a coach to make sure I was able to hold the space for my clients in the best possible way.
After much reflection, I realised that nature-based coaching was the best fit for me. I was already familiar with the magic of being immersed in nature and the benefits that it had on me. However, I struggled for some time with the idea of bringing my professional practice outdoors as I did not want to take from nature more than I was able to give back.
Understanding that I’m part of the ecosystem and developing a deep relationship with the Earth, have shed some light onto some of these questions. And this has helped me to make sure that my work not only benefits my client but takes into consideration all the different systems we belong and are part of.
When being in nature, we are surrounded by boundless opportunities to relate, connect, and care. We can see the horizon, feel heard and sustained. As a professional I feel supported and, for my client, the space to be creative and flourish is endless.

However, I keep asking myself how can I make sure that my practice gives back to nature as much as my clients and I receive from it? How do I make sure that the impact that I am having on the planet is neither negative nor neutral, but positive? Still ongoing questions that I am working-on with a whole community of eco-conscious practitioners. In my opinion, working with these groups have been the best professional development I’ve had so far.
