7-Eleven International is proud to spotlight the work of 7-Eleven Vietnam’s Eco Bag Promotion Campaign.
This program aims to reduce single-use plastic bags, addressing the social issue of plastic waste. By promoting reusable shopping habits, 7-Eleven Vietnam not only emphasizes its commitment to environmental protection, but also empowers customers to make greener choices in their daily lives. The initiative serves as a testament to how businesses can drive change through collaboration with customers.
The Eco Bag Promotion Campaign was launched with two core strategies: Buy & Use and Reuse. 7-Eleven launched the eco shopping bag at all stores to encourage shoppers to change their behavior in using plastic bags which will help to reduce plastic waste.?
The program has been well-received by customers with an 88% redemption rate for the eco bags and 63% of the discount vouchers utilized by customers. These vouchers, available in the 7-Eleven app, offer discounts on qualifying purchases when customers use eco bags. Even though the numbers may not seem large, they represent an important first step in starting the journey toward sustainable practices.
Despite the achievements, the campaign has also highlighted some challenges. Customers are still adapting to the habit of bringing their own bags, especially in the context of convenience shopping where basket sizes are typically smaller. Recognizing this, the 7-Eleven Vietnam team has taken proactive steps, such as increasing the availability of reuse vouchers and intensifying social media promotions to encourage greater participation. Additionally, the team is actively exploring innovative and practical eco bag designs to better meet customers' needs, making it easier for them to incorporate these bags into their daily shopping routines.
