ECO ART: Workshopping to find nature’s most artistic side
Tijuana Innovadora program Arte en la Industria (Art in the Industry) aims to bring art closer to people who do not frequent museums, art galleries, or art fairs and festivals.
We have brought our art collections to the maquiladora industry, schools, workplaces, businesses, and public places for over ten years. Reaching out to the audience and facilitating their work or routine encountered universal art expressions.
The program changes its collections weekly. They go to specific locations with different collections and constantly refresh the view in each participating venue. Some recipients have adapted their surroundings to dedicate a designated space, such as an exhibition hall, to give proper attention to the exhibitions.
On this occasion, Noé González, the program Director, planned a one-day painting workshop called ECOART at Cortadito Café, a delicious coffee shop near Tijuana Innovadora headquarters.
The participants were guided by artist, professor, and art teacher Rocio Rendón, who has built a relationship with Arte en la Industria for five years. She would help them from the very first strokes of the drawing, the mixing of colors, right until the end, when they finished the coloring.

The theme was ecology meets art, proving that inspiration and conscience can be found anywhere. The resulting paintings were sunflowers over a sky of many shades of blue, inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s The Starry Night.
This will be one of many times Arte en la Industria looks into the environment as a topic for their activities. They’re currently planning their annual drawing and painting contest with ecology and the environment as the central theme for inspiration.
As of May 2024, Arte en la Industria has had 25 exhibitions in local restaurants, high schools, and public libraries.
