Eclipsed

Today is the dawning of an entire brand new age,

Our world is beginning another historic page.

Watching our heavens has always been the norm,

Have you ever wondered why you were born.

A beautiful ball of blazing light sails across our magnificent skies,

It will continue to move long after the human race dies

From where I stand, the sun and moon appear to sail,

Today the sun looks red but by later on it will turn pale.

Without the sun, earth would have no forms of life at all,

Our precious planet would be no more than a dark icy ball.

A full eclipse only occurs every now and again,

The war of the worlds may appear to be on another peaceful wane.

Human hopes and ambitions could become highly inspired,

The suns furious energy has not yet retired.

For a single moment in time, just to stop to think,

With the awesome gods make a crucial emotional link.

Shades of red and yellow highlight the distant horizon,

Just like clockwork, a myriad of far away worlds are falling and rising.

Left to right, other beautiful planets spin speedily as they roll,

Other worlds move quickly while taking their daily stroll.

The sun provides limitless heat and light, all for free,

That vast ball of energy afforded life to both you and me.

A delightful circle of fire sails majestically across the lucid sky,

Stay in the sun too long and any form of life will wilt and die.

One passing planet momentarily blocks the view of its distant brother,

Earthly eyes witness a heavenly spectacle quite unlike any other.

As the silent moon slowly blots out the face of our distant sun,

The dawning of a whole new era has only just begun.

Day turns into night in the blinking of a curious human eye,

Observe two planets gently passing each other by.

Two large circles have apparently merged into just one,

One moment the sun is present and the next it has gone.

A blend of light and dark make an eternal ring,

Suddenly the birds refuse to sing.

Earths beautiful light source merely fades clean away,

Is it now night, or is it still day.

The cacophony of earthly noise suddenly fades and dies,

While humble eyes bear witness to forever changing skies.

The burning ring of fire merely fades to nothing,

Yet the sun soon re-appears as it is not going to be stopping.

Earth has been plunged into darkness for a moment or two,

This event occurs occasionally this I knew.

Stars appear they all come out and play,

Our glorious burning sun fades silently away.

A memorizing circle of light in the sky,

Watch the beautiful moon slipping silently by.

After a momentary eclipse, the moon moves on,

So does the sun, which has not gone.

What does this momentous event mean to the human race,

Destroying this earth will bring almighty disgrace.

We might never learn to appreciate the miracle of our birth,

Humans may ever understand the true value of earth.

Intricate workings of our universe, may be hidden from view,

However, I saw the moon turning from gold to vivid blue.

I fell asleep at a truly momentous moment in time,

Missing an eclipse would have been a heinous crime

My dreams allowed me to have the best possible view,

I observed the forever changing sky, with shades of blue.

Once again, the planets were all on the run,

A golden age had ended, the last historic age was over and done.

The new era would see the birth of modern people,

We do not know if the young will worship in any kind of steeple.

Earth has a worrying future that we will not live to see,

The price of environmental destruction will not be free.

Humans could well destroy earths echo system in the end,

Urgent messages to aliens we may indeed have to send.

An eclipse should remind us all that mankind has no-where else to go,

This is an absolute fact that we should already know.

In terms of time our planet may have very little left,

Our precious planet will one day become deserted and bereft.

This new epoch could see the beginning of the human beings demise,

Earth will eventually sail away into vast endless skies.

Technology is nowhere near being advanced enough to allow us to planet hop,

Yet human attempts to escape earth will never stop.

To travel the universe is mans ultimate goal

Unreasonable desires eventually take a truly torrid toll.

Human life forms must do what they can to protect each finite resource,

Our priceless planet must be protected as a matter of course.

If we love and value our children we must act with the utmost care,

Every opportunity to protect future generations we must share.

Cruising

Egypt is indeed the jewel of the Nile,

It is a real nice place to stay for a while.

Within this beautiful and blessed land,

Ancient Egyptians built monuments, that still stand.

The landscape looks rugged in each direction,

People may worship gods, from a vast selection.

From Khartoum to Cairo, all the rivers run,

Water glitters under bright summer sun.

Many precious artifacts come from ancient history,

Pyramids are all steeped in dark historic mystery.

We have a moral duty to enlighten our young,

The human race causes catastrophic damage and this is wrong

If we pass on our wisdom to the younger generation,

People may treat precious assets with great respect and veneration.

Ancient mummies truly understood the frailty of the globe,

They mapped distant stars that spin and strobe.

Take a long lingering trip down by the banks of the Nile,

Enjoy your voyage and travel in such grand style

Examine the sun and moon as they continue to slowly revolve,

A few meteoric mysteries you may well solve.

Locals have experienced many foreign thieves,

Archeologists are still in operation, down at Thebes.

Historic people have raided secret ancient rooms,

Robbers have raided many sacred tombs.

Priceless antiques may furnish many an English stately home,

Archeologists cannot leave those treasures alone.

From Luxor to Istanbul a thousand treasures are still missing,

Treasure hunters should try a wee bit of kissing.

Ancient mummies may be feeling sad and bereft,

Between the ancient pharos, royalty has no treasure left.

Rolling hills still meet the water's rocky edge.

Tourists choose to sit upon many a rugged ledge.

Within the boundaries of Egypt, lay a true king amongst kings,

Maybe his historic soul grew a pair of heavenly wings.

Ancient Queens used to sit upon high,

Their final destination lay in somewhere the distant sky.

Politics and religion may well rule the earth,

Unto the gods, we must all try to prove our personal worth.

Valuable knowledge, must be passed on,

Intelligent people continue to be born, but eventually they will all be gone.

Explore pillars of solid stone carved by a humble hand,

Visit temples that lay within this truly mysterious land.

Artifacts and carvings tell a myriad of twisted tales,

Sail passed upon a boat with large white sails.

Explore the pyramids and appreciate the beauty of the things you see

This place may be amazing but the entrance may not be free.

Eagles and snakes are carved adorn the solid stones

A ghostly Pharoe you may well see.

Pyramids incorporate long narrow halls,

Kings and Queens were hidden behind thick stone walls

Ciphers full of mysterious hidden meaning

Is this true or are we just dreaming.

Scenes depict war and fighting

Explanations the artists were indeed writing.

Ingenious building methods invented a long time ago,

Pyramids will outlive us all this we know.

Pyramids stand proud as tourists try to understand,

Great wonders of our world, are exceptionally well planned.

Intelligent people lived and eventually they all died,

Yet monuments to higher powers are full of great pride.

Royal Pharos will never get to rest in peace,

Endless tourist invasions will never ever cease.

You get no peace inside a tourist attraction,

The ancient dead see endless visitor action.

Egypt sure is a wonderful destination for a well earned break,

One more visitor no difference will make.

Cairo museum houses a vast collection of treasure,

Pop in and admire it at your leisure.

Historic royalty will welcome you,

You can ask the gods to bless your family it is true.

From ancient history perhaps we could learn something vital,

We could learn from an ancient Egyptian who held a rather grand title.

The king amongst kings dies when he was so pitifully young,

He had not yet ascended the highest earthly rung.

Visit the place where time still stands still

Offer to pay your every known bill.

Ask the god to take you under their wing.

Seek the counsel of an ancient king,

Who knows what wise advice your questions your visit will propose,

The curiosity of the gods just grows and grows.

Triangular Walls

Pyramids are always a rather strange shape,

From inside, it can be impossible to escape.

No windows or door to welcome you,

The entrance used to be hidden it is true.

Disturbing the dead could be a terrible sin

Forgiveness from gods we might not be able win.

People have a desperate need to discover history,

Humans like solving the odd great mystery.

Pyramids used to house ancient treasure and elusive secrets of the past.

Triangular walls are monuments, which were built to last,

Living people insist on trying to wake the dead,

The dead should be entitled to slumber in an eternal bed.

Egyptian hieroglyphics, must be examined for hidden clues,

Time to walk in another persons shoes.

Unfortunately, the dead will not allowed to rest in peace,

Endless disruptive invasions will not cease.

Monumental tombs should be an eternal resting place,

Breaching a deceased persons peace, may bring disgrace.

Triangular walls were ransacked and raided,

Plundered treasure was valued and graded.

Treasure hunters still commit the occasional crime,

While the biggest sharks in splendor dine.

Judge and jury will insist on having their say,

All humans face their own judgment day.

Sentence is uncertain on the day of your cause,

Mercy and forgiveness may take an occasional pause.

In a bed of uncertainty, tomb raiders stay,

Is doing evil deeds worth the price you have to pay.

How does it feel having to say sorry,

The guilty cart their regrets away, in a lorry.

Seeking forgiveness, can be a nerve racking task,

In bitter recriminations, you may bask.

Gods are watching so they know what you do,

Is would be impossible to fool gods, it is true

Triangular walls used to provide a nice safe haven,

For a sweet little Pharoe who had his precious head all shaven.

Travel back through time it cannot possibly be done,

Not a single battle for eternal life can ever be won.

The cycle of life continues to flow,

Billions of dead souls are already forgotten as we know.

Ancient pharos were clever and unlucky,

To build a pyramid you must be plucky.

Workers were encouraged to build their own small graves.

Builders had few comforts they were all just slaves.

Paupers got a hole in the ground,

Kings lie in pyramids that make no sound.

Where do you, want to be buried,

Into ancient pyramids, you are unlikely be ferried.

Empty promises to the gods are not easy to mend,

Time will tell, if you can make amend.

We should learn from our historic distant past,

The search for everlasting peace is set to last.

Eternal sentences may seem exceptionally long.

Do you feel guilty, about committing a wrong, ?

Male or female freely choose to do good or bad,

Solitary confinement can send you mad.

Pharos have been entombed for quite some time,

Funeral directors thought that pharaohs would be fine.

Clocks are irrelevant in a pyramid they have no use,

The passage of time is on the loose.

Ticking clocks may send you up the wall

Into disgrace we all could fall.

Walk into a pyramid and make reparation,

Be a representative of your own chosen nation.

Thank the gods that you are not dead,

You may need a place in heaven, to rest your head.

In a pyramid, expect to be disturbed,

By the passage of time, do not be perturbed.

Be wary of sleeping inside triangular walls,

Make sure you answer all heavenly calls.

Forgiveness may be afforded if your case, is deserving,

Pyramids are indeed well worth preserving.

We all have to die, this we know,

After death enjoy an everlasting life and go with the flow.

Historic vision looks nice in poetry.
