Echoes of Valor

In a land of endless desert sun, Where battles raged and nights begun, I stood my ground with brothers near, In fields of dust, in skies so clear.

We marched through heat and shadowed night, For freedom's cause, we took the fight, In foreign soil, our flag held high, Beneath the same stars, the same wide sky.

Each day, the echoes of the past, With every breath, the memories last, Faces of friends, now gone away, Their spirits guide me, come what may.

In silent moments, I recall, The laughter shared, my brothers' call, Through sorrow’s veil, their voices ring, In heart and mind, they're everything.

On this Memorial Day, I stand, With heavy heart, yet steady hand, To honor those who gave their all, Who answered duty’s solemn call.

From Iraq's sands to home’s embrace, Their sacrifice, their strength, their grace, Lives on in stories we retell, In whispered winds, in freedom’s bell.

Though time has passed, the bond remains, In every heartbeat, every vein, We carry forth their legacy, In every breath, in every plea.

So here I vow, with head bowed low, To never let their memories go, For in their honor, we find our way, And cherish peace, this Memorial Day.
