Baggage or cargo that is rejected after the first check must undergo a more thorough recheck. Nowadays, it is a time-consuming check-up, done by a screener. There is currently no machine available on the market that can control rejected goods on the basis of a different technological principle.

Stage Gate 11 and DT Solutions are developing the Echo X. This solution, based on elastic and inelastic backscattering technology, is capable of doing a through-barrier analysis for automatic identifying dangerous substances in objects like suitcases, bags, packages and containers. This technology allows baggage/cargo pieces, identified as suspicious by explosive detection equipment, to undergo with great precision and reliability an automated follow-up check for the presence of suspicious substances. This concept helps airports improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the screening process.
