When I took this photo in January of 2019, I had just been through 2 weeks of Safari and honeymoon with my wife.
We Married at the end of 2018 in that no man's land between Christmas and New Year's Eve. A chinked glasses over Brussels somewhere at midnight to see in the new year.
I felt relaxed and in love. Settled in our decisions for our future together and full of plans!
Not one of those plans has come true.
Maybe one. We moved to be closer to the seaside.
Now, this isn't a newsletter/post about a terrible story or sadness for not hitting our goals.
I am aware that LIFE HAPPENS.
Are we further along than where we started? Absolutely. And whilst we have had to overcome some hurdles along the way, I am grateful for every one of those challenges.
They have enabled me to grow and become the man I am right now.
Challenges like:
Now, wouldn't it be great if I didn't have those challenges? And I got what I wanted at the point I wanted. Of course. And it would have meant less stress in our relationship.
However, all these challenges have caused a surprising side effect—personal Development and growth.
Now, with this experience of life just happening, I am in a privileged position to guide, care for, and counsel. I will walk my path not only with my wife but also with the men who pass through the gates at Save A Warrior UK.
Right now, this is all I have. And I realised that the echo chamber of ignorance I was living in was a place where I had become comfortable and steady in the known world.
Right now, I have faith in the love and support around me, always and at all times. I see evidence in everything I see. Quietly conspiring on my behalf.
Every time I move closer towards making a difference, a little bit more evidence.
The next step in my life journey is an exciting new chapter that I am entering with a sense of joy and aliveness.
