ECE recognizes six outstanding seniors awards

Medals and handshakes weren’t the only things happening at our Heta Lambda Beta (HLB) ceremony in Blacksburg.?

We also recognized our Virginia Tech Bradley Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering outstanding seniors!

Jenny Li - Outstanding Computer Engineering Senior Award

With a major in software systems and a minor in innovation, 李珍尼 was awarded as the outstanding computer engineering student along with being the Virginia Tech Bradley Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering outstanding senior overall.?

Some of Jenny’s achievements during her time at Virginia Tech include being IEEE Student Branch at VT President, serving as an ECE ambassador, participated in the CACI Scholar Development and Research Program, contributed to CEED mentoring programs, and much more. She isn’t done at Virginia Tech though, as she’ll be back for a M.S. in computer engineering! ????

Rebecca Rainhart - Outstanding Electrical Engineering Senior Award

For our outstanding electrical engineer senior, we have ECE ambassador and payload lead for NASA Student Launch at Virginia Tech , Rebecca R. !?

After graduating with a major in micro/nanosystems with a secondary focus in chip-scale integration and minor in visual arts and society, Rebecca will be working as an electrical ground support equipment engineer for Millennium Space Systems, A Boeing Company ! ??

Zachary Schmidt - Outstanding Leadership Award

For displaying outstanding leadership ability during his time at Virginia Tech , Zachary Schmidt has been awarded ECE’s outstanding leadership award. Some of the ways he took action was by being an ECE ambassador, serving as a residential well-being student leader, and acting as an undergraduate student senator! ??

Zachary has an ambitious road planned ahead for himself as he’ll be interning with Boeing this summer before returning to being a Hokie and working towards obtaining his M.S. in electrical engineering! After that, he plans on getting a Ph.D. in electrical engineering, becoming a professor at Virginia Tech , and becoming Virginia Tech ’s president. ??

Claire Doody - Outstanding Service Award

Anywhere you looked at Virginia Tech , you were bound to find Claire D. helping someone else or assisting the community, which is why she was awarded the outstanding service award. She’s done a bit of everything with being an ECE ambassador, helped as an undergraduate learning assistant, served on the Panhellenic Executive Council, and helping the Virginia Tech student alumni association among other things! ??

After she gets her cap and gown, Claire will be heading to Garmin for an internship this summer! ? But she isn’t done as a Hokie, as she’ll be back to complete her M.Eng. in computer science. Take care of her Virginia Tech Department of Computer Science ! ??

Ethan Shaw - Highest GPA in Computer Engineering

All the hard work on tests and final exams paid off for Ethan Shaw as he had the highest GPA out of computer engineering students! ??

With his major in software systems and minors in computer science, cybersecurity, and math, Ethan will be working for HII as a software engineer!?

Anson Trapani - Highest GPA in Electrical Engineering

Double the majors and still had the highest GPA out of electrical engineering students, it’s Anson Trapani ! Balancing a micro/nanosystems and chip-scale integration is no easy feat, let alone while getting the highest EE GPA.

Anson isn’t done being a Hokie either, as after he works for the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory this summer, he’ll come back to get his M.S. in electrical engineering! ??

Congratulations Rebecca! You so deserve it! I am so proud of you??
