We need societal informed consent for AI technologies. Although in their daily lives individuals consent to various risks, there is no mechanism for society to collectively consent to new technologies. In many cases in decision making in AI, choices are made by corporate lawyers who do not consider broader societal interests which is why it is important to critically comprehend AI as a societal conversation. We should collectively decide the future we want.?
