The 2024 Paris Olympics is prompting privacy concerns due to the extensive use of AI-powered mass surveillance by the French government and private companies.

While Safari blocks third-party cookies, it lags in protecting against fingerprinting ("the resolution of your computer screen, the fonts you have installed, add-on software you use and other technical details that in aggregate can help identify your device and what you’re doing on it").

The EU AI Act has come effective August 1, 2024, regulating AI systems based on risk levels. Companies have three to six months to comply, with high-risk systems facing strict rules and potential fines up to 7% of global turnover.?
