Happening now: Moorhead Area Day at the Capitol

The Chamber and area business leaders are currently in St. Paul advocating for our business community's most pressing priorities. This year's cohort, which is the largest cohort The Chamber has ever hosted in St. Paul, will spend the two days in key meetings with area and state legislators, participating in legislative briefings and policy meetings, and much more. We are proud to bring our FMWF voice and presence to St. Paul to promote and protect our business community.

Why you should attend Intentional Collisions

Brin Braathen, The Chamber's director of programs

Elevate your career and connections with experienced mentors

Next month, The Chamber is hosting the third annual Intentional Collisions event - an engaging and interactive experience connecting attendees with our FMWF community's influential women.

"The Intentional Collisions event is a game-changer. As director of the Women Connect program, I have been working very closely with our nearly 100 mentors to prepare for this month's event, and I must say, this is going to be a memorable and life-changing day for our attendees," said Brin Braathen , The Chamber's director of programs.

"The personalized approach to connecting with influential women in our community is both innovative and impactful. I think about the story of Sarah West and Stephanie Youngblom , and how a mentor connection at last year's event completely changed Sarah's professional path and unlocked new opportunities for her. I encourage the women of FMWF to get involved with this event. You never know what connection you could make or opportunity you may find!"

A legacy of care: Marvin

Marvin strives to support causes that are meaningful to their teams. In North Dakota alone, Marvin partners with more than 70 non-profit organizations that give back to our local community, including Marvin employees and their families.

"It's these moments to connect with each other and our community that provide perspective and inspiration." - MARVIN Community Relations Manager, Cairn Reisch, CVA

Giving back can be done in many meaningful ways. Whether it's financial contributions, supply donation, the gift of your time, or other ways - you can contribute to the impact in FMWF.

Does your business have summer interns?

Enhance their internship with the CampusFM Intern Experience!

Enrollment is now open for the CampusFM Intern Experience!

Did you know that only 39% of students stay in the Fargo-Moorhead region after they graduate? CampusFM is an initiative aimed at retaining students in the area after graduation by strengthening the connections between students, campuses and community.

In weekly 90-minute sessions, they’ll learn valuable professional skills to enhance their productivity and grow their critical feedback skills while highlighting the incredible people, places and activities the community offers.

This program is provided as a partnership between The Chamber and Folkways.

Video - The Inspiring Story of Christopher Gardner: From Homelessness to Millionaire

Gardner’s life story has been known around the world since topping the New York Times and Washington Post #1 Bestseller lists and inspiring the iconic 2006 film The Pursuit of Happyness starring Will Smith. “That book was the story of my life,” said Gardner, “but I’ve always thought of it as the book of ‘us,’ meaning everyone who had every opportunity to quit, but didn’t. We all have the power of choice.”

FMWF Chamber urges members to reject N.D. Property Tax Measure

The Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber OPPOSES the current initiated constitutional measure to eliminate property taxes in the state of North Dakota. If passed, this measure would drastically impact the trajectory of North Dakota, hindering economic vibrancy and reducing the state’s competitive advantage.

There are currently proponents collecting signatures to place this regressive measure on the November General Election ballot. The Chamber encourages citizens to decline signing this petition.

Why does The Chamber oppose this?

Public Services

Property taxes are collected by local governments (cities, counties, townships) to fund essential public services such as schools, public safety, public works and community services.

Local Control

The biggest concern is that this measure would take away local control of the local budget. Instead of local school, county and city officials readily available to listen to the concerns of constituents and ensure the budget fits the needs of the community, those political subdivisions would need to go to Bismarck and ask the legislature to fund a new school, or additional firefighters, or sewer systems, or road maintenance.

If passed, local budgets will be frozen at 2024 levels. This is not a tax cut. This will force communities to find revenue from other sources such as major increases in sales tax and fees.
