Encourage students to participate in The National Civics Bee!
Help us spread the word! The National Civics Bee is launching in North Dakota for the first time, inviting middle school students (grades 6-8) to compete in a fun, engaging challenge that builds civic knowledge and inspires a passion for community leadership. Students will submit essays on meaningful civic topics, with top submissions advancing to compete live in Fargo—and potentially at the state and national levels!
How It Works
Essay Submission: Students submit essays to the National Civics Bee portal by Feb. 4, 2025. The top 20 will move on to the Fargo competition on April 5.
Advancement Opportunities: The top three finalists from Fargo will compete at the state level, with the chance to represent North Dakota on the national stage!
Why Participate?
In addition to invaluable experience, participating students and their classrooms can win exciting prizes—think Nintendo Switch, gift cards, cash prizes and even a class pizza party!

Two outstanding organizations are joining the Good Jobs Challenge program! Their expertise will be vital in expanding access to high-quality, industry-focused training for individuals seeking careers in manufacturing, agriculture and cybersecurity/IT.
Bismarck State College (BSC) – As North Dakota’s polytechnic institution, Bismarck State College prepares students for the workforce through hands-on learning?from industry-trained faculty and internships with industry partners. BSC collaborates with businesses and industry leaders to develop programs and curriculum that align with real-world skill needs.
United Tribes Technical College (UTTC) – United Tribes Technical College is a tribal college near Bismarck, North Dakota, dedicated to empowering Native American students through culturally grounded, career-focused education.
