Municipal Airport Authority Moves Forward with Parking Ramp
At their December 12, 2023, meeting, Hector International Airport 's Municipal Airport Authority Board of Directors voted unanimously to move forward with a parking ramp project.
Board members had previously selected TL Stroh as architect and McGough | TF Powers as contractor to begin the design development process for a 4-story parking structure and elevated walkway to be connected to the terminal.
The new parking structure will be built at the site of the current short-term parking lot. A temporary short-term lot is planned during the construction. The ramp will feature a total of 977 spaces and include electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.
It is important to note that while the parking ramp project operates independently, it will run concurrently with the $129 million terminal expansion initiative. Groundbreaking for both projects is anticipated in May 2024.
The estimated cost for the parking ramp is $43 million, with a projected construction timeline of 12 to 14 months. Concurrently, the skyway construction is expected to incur a $4 million investment and be completed within 6 to 8 months. Finalization of costs and financing details for the overall project is still pending.
