E.B. Spoke - Week In Review

Podcasts are hard to produce. I have a lot of respect for those of you who are doing it regularly. Even more for those who do it yourself and aren't paying for a production team.

In my poll this week on where you get your long form content, podcasts and YouTube were the clear winners. And they weren't even on the poll. Industry websites came in close as well.

Part of my question involved an article I published this past week.

A Letter from the CISO to the CEO (find it also on my Substack)

Articles don't get much attention here, and I'm still trying to grow my Substack subscriber base. I enjoy writing long form articles, but my hope is someone else finds them and then finds them interesting.

Given the feedback, I'm thinking about resuming my podcast efforts. I made 3 episodes before the production effort got to me. Let me know in the comments what you think.

Psybersecurity

I had a #cybersecurity coffee chat this past week. If you missed it, my theme was the psychology involved in cybersecurity (e.g. #psybersecurity). We talked both about the psychology tools used to do social engineering and phishing attacks, but also how to provide support to the defending teams and the CISO role in particular.

Decision Making

How we decide is a well-studied, but often poorly understood topic. Certainly the psychology mentioned above comes into play. Also, how we gather information and react to the environment when deciding is important. I suggest teaching improv skills to more people would be a good way to help people think on their feet. I polled you on what techniques you use when you need to make a decision. The winner so far is to spend more time gathering information.
