Eating Out

Eating Out

Something to remember: you can eat out and have a healthy meal. Yes, cooking from scratch at home will be your best option the majority of the time, but if you love eating out as much as I do, then all you need is a plan and some ideas of what foods will keep you on track.

.

When you have an autoimmune disease, you are more susceptible to food sensitivities so making sure that you are not exposed to these when you dine out is of utmost importance. But worry no more, with a well-versed plan and many options on the table, you will never have to surrender to non-compliant food again! Here are some tips to stay healthy while you enjoy social eating with friends and family:

??Research ahead of time

Researching your eatery in advance is a must for you to have success. When eating out, make sure that you will be able to order something off the menu, and if not, call the restaurant to ask if they can prepare something for you especially.

??Take supplies

Having food supplies in your bag is an absolute must to ensure that you have something available to suppress any craving when you start to feel temptation calls. Some restaurants might not have the best oils available, and as extra virgin olive oil and MCT oil is easily transportable, I often carry a small bottle in my bag. In addition, activated nuts, beef jerky, fruits, sliced vegetables and dried fruit are good options for a transportable, quick food fix.

??Order something healthy

Just because you are eating out doesn't mean you have to eat unhealthy food. My local Italian restaurant has liver, seabass, lamb cutlets and grilled squid, with plenty of vegetable and salad side orders. I love it! There is no reason for me to go off track just because I am eating out.

One of the ways I help my clients is to provide ideas for eating out and convenient lunchtime foods, which help them stay on track no matter the challenge.

What are your top tips for eating out? I would love to hear from you. ????
