Eat Your Way off Barcelona’s Beaten Track

Passion for Gastronomy and Sustainable Tourism

Chilean-Russian couple Andre and Marina combined their passion for gastronomy and sustainable tourism to create the delectable Barcelona Eat Local Food Tour. The result is a sensory voyage of discovery through the sights, smells and sounds of everyday life in the Catalan capital.

The couple met in Moscow, where Andre was working for the United Nations, and decided to make their dream a reality and move to Barcelona. Both self-proclaimed foodies, each was induced into the world of gastronomy in interesting ways.

As a humanitarian, Andre has worked in many remote and sometimes dangerous destinations in his bid to save the world, including Afghanistan, Nepal, Indonesia, Jamaica and Bolivia, but it was always the local cuisine that he took home with him.

“If I came to visit you in Wales and you cooked a traditional Welsh soup for me,” Andre explained, “I’d be watching you like a hawk. And then I’d go home and try to make it just how you did it. That’s what I’ve always done, wherever I’ve travelled.”
