"Eat Less, Move More" May Not Be Effective Weight-loss Advice, Says a Qualitative Study

Weight-loss advice from general practitioners to obese patients rarely included effective methods, mostly communicating a general “eat less, do more” approach, according to a qualitative study published in the journal Family Practice.
The researchers found that the practitioners’ advice was mostly generic, and rarely tailored to patients’ existing knowledge and behaviors. The results suggest that brief weight-loss advice should focus on more specific and actionable evidence-based recommendations.?
