Easyjet Baggage Changes
From the 10th of February 20201 Easyjet is going to change it’s luggage policy so that the amount of luggage and what size it is depends on what ticket you have booked.
Whatever type of ticket you have booked you will be able to bring one small cabin bag with a total maximum size of 45cm x 36cm x 20 cm. This needs to include all wheels and handles so it’s the total outside measurement of the luggage.
This luggage has to be stored under the seat infront of you – not in the overhead lockers.
As such this luggage is smaller than the previously allowed luggage which could be stowed in the locker.
Don’t Have a Baggage Panic
I have travelled with underseat luggage for some time and it is fine. I actually prefer it because it makes boarding less stressful – there is no panicking about trying to get onboard early to find overhead locker space.
It also means your luggage is located close to you rather than being located in a locker away from your seat because that is the only place where there is space.
Underseat luggage also means that your luggage is to hand if you need anything rather than having to wait for the seatbelt sign to go off (it can take a bit of jiggling to get your case out from under the seat though!).
Easyjet Baggage Size
As you may have heard previously size isn’t everything!
The same applies to Easyjet luggage. Although the new case size is smaller if you are clever about packing it is still plenty enough luggage for around a 5 day trip.

Easyjet Upfront or Extra Legroom Seats
Customers who book these seats can take an extra onboard large cabin bag size 56cm x 45cm x 25cm which again has to include all wheels and handles.
This case can be stored in the overhead locker.
Given the amount of upfront and extra legroom seats it is unlikely that all the luggage can be accommodated in the locker directly over the seats.
This is more likely to be the case given that all these passengers will likely be bringing extra luggage because that is probably why they have booked these seats.
Easyjet Baggage Sizes – Updated Rules
Everyone gets underseat luggage. Total outside size 45cm (17″) x 36cm (14″) x 20cm (7.5″)
Upfront, extra legroom seats plus Easyjetplus members also get overhead cabin luggage. Total outside size 56cm (22″)x 45cm (17″) x 25cm (9.5″)
Note: I have rounded inches down a little bit to be on the safe side as far as sizing goes.

EasyjetPlus Members and Easyjet Baggage
If you are an EasyjetPlus member you can select any seat on the plane without paying a seat reservation fee because this is included in your membership.
If you are flying regularly and are choosing extra legroom or upfront seats this can add up to quite a saving, especially given the changes in the baggage policy which means you would now have to pay for any overhead cabin sized luggage to go on a flight, either by selecting a seat that includes extra luggage or by adding it as hold luggage.
As an EasyjetPlus member you can select a standard seat to travel in. Under the new rules this would mean you could only take one underseat case.
However, EasyjetPlus members are able to take an overhead locker sized bag as well. If there is space this will be accommodated on board or it will be checked in for free. Members in standard seats will need to check this with gate staff.
Easyjet Baggage Underseat Options
Here are some baggage options that meet the size criteria for Easyjet’s underseat luggage policy.
This luggage will fit Easyjet underseat because it fits Ryanair which is slightly smaller.
It is 40cm x 20cm x 25cm so is well within the requirements.
It’s also one of the cheaper options at just £14.99
This backpack might be a good option if you want to be hands free when you get to your destination.
Again it fits the Ryanair underseat policy and is 40cm x 20cm x 25cm so it within the measurements.
At £19.95 it’s a great price too.
