The Easy Way To Stop Procrastination
When all is said and done, more is said than done
Most of us know what we need to do, we just need to go and do it
Perhaps we have fears, doubts or concerns? Perhaps we don’t have enough knowledge or confidence yet?
Perhaps we don’t want to make mistakes or look foolish? Perhaps we don’t want to upset people?
Yet every master was once a disaster
Here’s a simple 5 step process to overcome inaction and procrastination, get more done quicker, making less mistakes and improving each time you do something, even if its the first time.
1) Learn
Learn 1st. Do not risk big costly mistakes trying things yourself without due knowledge. Get 75% of the knowledge you can to be ‘ready,’ to stop over analysis.
2) Test
Test is better than ‘do,’ because it assumes less risk and a mindset of constant improvement. Get your MVP [Minimum Viable Product] out fast.
Try it. It works or you learn to make iteration 2 better. It’s unlikely to be right the first time, so test it first/fast and improve.
3)Tweak
Tweak first/most recent action for improvements. Make small, steady and constant improvements rather than slow, radical ones.
4)Review
Analyse and get feedback on your first test. What did you do well that you can keep doing, what do you need to start doing and what do you need to stop doing. Keep? Start? Stop?
5)Repeat
Start the process again, testing once more with improved skill, experience and confidence.
This process is never done, so don’t rest overconfidently that you’ve ever mastered it. And don’t beat yourself up if you think you’ve failed. Repeat the process for constant and never ending improvement.
Detach yourself and your feelings from the outcome and result. Enjoy the journey and follow the process for more balanced emotions and long term, sustainable success. It and you are never done. So keep on keeping on towards your long term vision.
