Welcome to the 6th edition of our Apple Watch Insider’s report! This week, we polled our “Inner Circle” of Apple Watch owners during the June 1st- June 5th period and the survey was completed by more than 200 of you – more than 2X the prior week! This means our data and reports are fast becoming more reliable and insightful!
Now to continue growing we need your help. If you find our work useful, please consider sharing something like this: “I am a member of a cool Apple Watch user research project. It only takes a minute per week & you can sign up at https://wristly.co “
What have we learned this week?
The Apple Watch does reduce iPhone addiction!
A resounding 90% of us can attest that wearing the Apple Watch allows us to diminish our dependence on the iPhone. The primary reason for this is simply the ability to be a lot more selective in the handling of all Phone-based interruptions such as text messages or notifications.
As one user said: “With the Watch, I answer just what I need to on the Watch rather than getting a text and then getting distracted with other notifications” another one added: “Everything less. It used to be when I picked up my phone to check a notification I'd get lost in a sea of apps for much longer than just responding to that notification because of other distractions. Now with the Watch I only remind (sic) to what's important and I push way fewer notifications to it. I have way more time now doing real life things because the Apple Watch has freed me from my phone.”
The Honeycomb is not (yet) the Holy Grail!
Most of the App developers we’ve been talking to have been curious about this one. As every developer with iPhone knowledge can attest to, the Holy Grail for success is for users to strategically move their App icon to the iPhone homepage.
With even less real-estate space on the Watch, we suspected being moved near the center of the Honeycomb would be a pretty big deal for the lucky few that get there. We were therefore intrigued about how active early owners are with the customization of that App layout screen.
Well, it’s not yet a super high-frequency task according to our data with less than 10% of us changing the layout frequently!
