The Easy Way
At a very early age, my father impressed upon me that there are no free lunches. After 32 years in sales it still baffles me to see so many salespeople looking for the easy way – cutting corners, doing as little as possible, or heck, not even showing up. This week I’m here to tell you the path to success is not an easy one but it’s well worth traveling.
Consistently engaging in high payoff activities, especially when you don’t feel like it, is key. Making calls that take you completely out of your comfort zone and charging forward while others are standing still will set the stage. Simply put – don’t let anyone out work you! Of course it’s not easy. What meaningful accomplishment in your life thus far has been easy? Each comes with a great story, relationships with people who helped you along the way and the satisfaction and happiness that you did it!
Take my father’s advice. Accept that there is no free lunch. While others are looking for ways to cut corners, commit to doing the tough things you know will make you successful. If you start cutting corners you will eventually end up going in circles. As Babe Ruth said, “You just can’t beat the person who never gives up”. Don’t cut corners, be the person who never gives up, and make this week count!
