The Paris 2024 Olympics showed us where passion can take you. It can take some people to stand on top of a podium at the Stade de France, listening to a national anthem while feeling emotional.?
Passion can push people to achieve and do great things, even against the odds. I notice that we love an under dog who is giving 100%.
Another way to explore what passion can do is to listen to podcasts that include stories and conversations about successful business ideas… that almost failed. I find them inspiring and really insightful to understand how people thrive, even when the going gets tough.
Here’s two podcast episodes that I heard recently who share how they turned their passion in to profit
Here are two international brands who used their grit, determination and strong emotion to strive for success that would lead to a lucrative life.
Forbes estimates Whitney is worth approximately $510 million.
Meanwhile Zumba has become a household name with a reported 15 million people across 186 countries attending Zumba exercise classes every week. The firm is worth at least a reported $500million
Not bad for a passion project, huh?!
But I don’t believe it was easy. What you hear in these podcast chats is evidence of a steely determination, countless hours spent working hard and conflict. Often founders ask if the business idea will truly work and having true moments of doubt!
I believe passion is a big trigger to launching a business.?
If it’s not a passion, what is it that keeps you going? Let’s face it -? what else will keep you motivated to work long hours, go the extra mile and make sacrifices every day??

In both instances, the founder of the business asked for help, collaborated or teamed up with someone who had the skills to boost their business. Would you do the same if you were lacking in certain skills?

Give plans time to flourish
There is no such thing as overnight success. Both businesses took a long time to gather popularity and trust from customers. Sometimes we can be impatient for success because we are passionate. How can you manage expectations and pace yourself?
Just say yes
There are times when the business owners said yes just to get things started and then worried about the details. Do you often say yes or do you refuse opportunities?
Don’t be afraid to pivot your plans
The initial plan may not be working so let’s shift gears to keep the momentum. The founders of Zumba tell stories about new technology that helped them to change their business plan.
It takes time to make money
The pounds (or dollars) take time to turn up and lucrative businesses don’t make money for a while. This surprised me because I thought everyone made money at first but actually financial losses happen more than you think.
