Take time before the appointment to survey yourself – how do I feel? Be mindful of your answers, write them down if needed and take them with you. Don’t just answer questions...ask them. Ask your physician questions about the diagnosis until you understand it. Know the diagnosis before agreeing to X-Rays, blood work, tests or images. Then ask more questions. Learn what the test will show the doctor that s/he doesn't already know. Ask what alternatives are available. A Healthcare Consumer is an educated consumer.
