The Easy Path of Ignorance

In this era of information where news flows faster than your breath, it is difficult to understand, articulate and reflect with your opinions and views to each scenario. Every news, every subject has two pillars standing opposite with their loud voices and puts an individual in the space of dilemma of choice due to abundance of information and lack of its understanding . The easiest way to reflect in such situations is denial and ignorance but as a society we must answer, “Are we walking to a greater loss ?”

As a part of democracy we get a choice to choose our leaders and representatives of our society to the external world . Democracy by the people shall only prevail when the masses are informed and educated enough of what representations these leaders are portraying in the international arena and whether the choices they make for you is correct and wise. When society takes easier path of ignorance, we have given upon our basic duty of responsibility for our own tomorrow and generations which shall question our acumen . When we debate about imperialism, colonialism, communism and years of history following us, choices they made and consequences we suffer today, it seems we as a society have forgotten or are unwilling to acknowledge what chapters we are adding to these books of past and the criticism which shall fall later on us.

As David McCullough quoted “History is who we are and why we are the way we are”, these words become more important in the times of pandemic and distress this world is suffering today. If we take a moment to list some of the most crucial decisions humanity has to make today, it is enough to make a sane person insane and question his minuscule relevance in the times of urgency and attention this existences demands from us . Some examples are value of an individual life minimised to number and ratios, state of poor’s in the economy , the power dynamics which plays in the favour of developed and rich countries, inability and incapacity of domestic leaderships, illusion of development and failed policies ,climate suffering because of human choices, games of superiority on the base of race, religion or the destructive power we posses, hunger of power and a lot more displaying weakened arms of democracies. It seems that the world order ruling in favour of its commoners is alive just in the books of polity and classrooms of prestigious universities .

The question we need to answer is very simple and toughest at the same moment. Is my hunt for a calm mind using shield of ignorance worth the agony of tomorrow ? Either you answer this to yourself or walk away this question by ignoring and wishing for a wonderful tomorrow of bliss and unjust justice. How shall we respond today shall frame the questions of tomorrow and I hope it not be in dismay.
